OLLI-PEKKA BEHM APPOINTED EXECUTIVE EDITOR-IN-CHIEF OF SATAKUNNAN KANSA
Editor-in-Chief for News, Olli-Pekka Behm (47), has been appointed Executive
Editor-in-Chief of Satakunnan Kansa effective 1 December 2013. Behm has been the
Editor-in-Chief for News at the newspaper since 2006. He has also been
responsible for the development of editorial co-operation at Alma Media for the
past five years.
As Executive Editor-in-Chief, Behm aims to engage in more extensive dialogue
with people living in the region.
- Satakunnan Kansa currently reaches eight out of ten people in its area. This
provides a strong foundation for the continued development of the newspaper and
its online services. We will be listening to our customers and the forthright
people of this region will have the opportunity to contribute to our upcoming
renewal measures. Local content will continue to be our highest priority, Behm
says.
Behm has previously worked as Editor-in-Chief at Hämeen Sanomat in 2001-2006.
Prior to that, he worked at the Finnish news agency STT for some 10 years as an
editor and within various managerial positions. He studied at the Faculty of
Social Sciences of the University of Helsinki, majoring in Political Science.
The current Executive Editor-in-Chief of Satakunnan Kansa, Petri Hakala, has
been appointed Editor-in-Chief of Iltalehti as of the beginning of December
2013.
Satakunnan Kansa is part of Alma Media Corporation's Alma Regional Media
business unit, which publishes a total of five regional newspapers. The
newspaper portfolio also includes nearly 30 local and town papers around
Finland.
