The Fraser Institute: How Safe Are Oil Pipelines Compared to Rail and Truck Transport? New Study Coming Tuesday, October 15

Resistance to pipeline infrastructure expansion is putting more pressure on road and rail systems as growth in North American oil production outpaces pipeline capacity. The study, Intermodal Safety in the Transport of Oil uses empirical data to examine and compare the incidents of worker injury as well as records of oil spills when oil is shipped via pipelines, rail, and truck transport.
Intermodal Safety in the Transport of Oil is the second in a series of Fraser Institute reports examining issues affecting transportation of Canadian oil and the impediments to getting it market.
