Atea reports revenue growth of 4.8% and improved EBITDA

Atea, the number one supplier of IT infrastructure products and services in the
Nordic and Baltic region, reports revenue growth of 4.8% and improved EBITDA in
the third quarter of 2013.
In the third quarter of 2013, Atea reported revenue of NOK 4,664 million,
corresponding to a growth of 4.8% compared with the same period last year.
Software revenue increased 9.7%, services revenue increased 7.0% and hardware
revenue increased 3.0%.
The financial turmoil in Europe continued to impact the Nordic and Baltic IT
infrastructure market in the third quarter of 2013. The market has remained
weak, and this has particularly been the case in the hardware segment where the
demand for servers and PCs has declined. "I am pleased to see that we have
continued our strong performance in the software and services segments. I am
also pleased to see that we are now recording positive growth in the hardware
segment," says Claus Hougesen, CEO of Atea.
EBITDA in the quarter ended at NOK 158 million up 0.3% compared with last year.
The increase in EBITDA is caused by revenue growth and improved or maintained
margins within all three market segments.
Going forward Atea will utilize the number one position in the Nordic and Baltic
markets to take advantage of the possibilities which are currently unfolding in
the market. Focus will therefore be increased in high growth areas, such as
mobility, hybrid cloud, collaboration, consumerization and IT-as-a-service, by
helping customers to transform their IT infrastructure into these new areas. In
order to enable increased focus within these areas and to drive profitable
growth, Atea has launched a program to enhance operational efficiency. The
program will lower the cost base with NOK 300 million per year through local
cost initiatives combined with near-shoring of back-office functions to the
shared services centre in Riga in Latvia. "Taking these actions means that we
will be better positioned to serve customer needs in an efficient manner and
will improve profitability going forward," says Claus Hougesen.
