Passport Premiere Detects International Business Class Fare Sales

(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwired) -- 10/24/13 -- has detected widespread international business class fare sales in response to weaker than expected demand. Air New Zealand, American, Delta, United and V Australia have all initiated fare business class corrections of up to 65% for travel into 2014. Airfare corrections occur when carriers overestimate the value of their premium class inventory and are forced to slash fares to avoid empty planes.
On October 1st, Delta Airlines slashed business class fares between Los Angeles and Sydney from $9,528 to just $4,635 round trip + taxes for weekend travel. United and V Australia matched Delta's offer for travel through early June, 2014. Discounting business class fares to Australia by 50% in October, the peak business travel season, is unprecedented. Carriers have lowered fares to lure price conscious leisure travelers into the business class seats left vacant by business travelers.
On September 23rd, American Airlines initiated and both Delta and United Airlines matched sweeping business class sales between the U.S. and Korea. Business class fare premiums fell to just $2,190 + tax round trip, over 50% lower compared with pricing just a week earlier.
On October 15th, U.S. and European carriers launched business class fare sales between the U.S. and Europe for travel commencing in December. Round trip business class fares between New York and London have been reduced from $2,284 to just $1,199 + taxes for purchases completed by November 5th, 2013.
Passport Premiere advises its subscribers whether current fare levels are supported by legitimate demand or speculation. Subscribers receive route specific BUY and HOLD recommendations and use Fare Monitor to determine if current fare levels are fairly valued or are likely to fall at a later date. Subscribers are first in line to capture downward fare moves when fare change happens. International premium class travelers seeking to reduce their travel costs can register by visiting the website or can learn more by watching a short video . Current trends suggest additional buying events should be launched in the weeks ahead.
