Fast visual inspection of connectors for electronic assemblies

October 8th, 2013 - The PlatiScan GmbH, based in Herrenberg near Stuttgart provides PlatiScan Connector test before an automatic system for fast visual inspection of individual connectors on electronic assemblies and plug groups on backplanes. PlatiScan works like a manual visual inspection by special software algorithms and can check a lot of plugs for missing, bent or damaged pins in a short time. In addition, to check whether the plug-coding in the right place, and whether additional components are fitted correctly.

(firmenpresse) - The image taken by a high-resolution camera is analyzed with special algorithms. Detected errors are displayed graphically on the screen or summarized in a bug report. Depending on the requirements, different cameras with resolutions ranging from 0.3 to 18 megapixels are available. For large test objects, such as complete backplanes, several PlatiScan modules can be cascaded. The standard version is suitable for assemblies up to a size of 590 mm x 530 mm.

PlatiScan is modular and available in different configurations and for different applications. In addition to the review of connector pins also a test of LEDs, displays, or assembly of components is possible. Due to the rapid evaluation of very many pins or LEDs can check within a short time. The per-pin test time is about 8-16 milliseconds. Particularly noteworthy is the ease of use of the system and the rapid creation of test programs. PlatiScan is applicable as a standalone system, integrated directly into a test fixture or used in a fully automated inline production line.

The entry price of PlatiScan is about € 1,000, complete systems are available from 10,000 euros.
