"As a derivative of the UNIX™ operating system, Linux is both powerful and highly secure, and more IT staffs at fire departments are prepared to support it. Locution Systems invests heavily in research and development and system enhancements, and it was a logical choice to develop and introduce a Linux option for our fire station alerting system," he said.

Linux has a nickname of "best of breed" UNIX™ and includes all the UNIX standard tools and utilities.

All the necessary networking software come with standard Linux.

Linux is a "friendly" operating system that connects to Microsoft, Apple & Novell.
