Bizerba employees celebrate their first family day
(firmenpresse) - Andreas Wilhelm Kraut, Chair of the Management Board since 1st July, is stepping into
his father's footsteps and is the fifth generation to take over the fortunes of the worldwide
leading solution provider in many sectors. Just one day later he declares the future of
Bizerba as a family company in a moving speech in front of 2,000 Bizerba employees
and their guests.
Balingen, 11th July 2011 – Countless visitors were already streaming onto the Balingen
head office premises early on Saturday morning. From 10 am the wish of many
employees to be able to show their families where they work and what Bizerba can do,
was to be fulfilled with the very first Bizerba family day. A wish that was enthusiastically
received by management and vigorously supported by the Kraut family.
Many conscientious helpers had been busy at the plant for weeks, ensuring that this
premiere will be a huge success, informative, entertaining and varied. And the response
was overwhelming. There was soon a lively hustle and bustle on the street with games,
lots of interested people took part in a tour of the company and with the family rally both
the young and old were able to measure their creativity and logical thinking in a sporting
competition.
Bizerba employees used over 25 display and show points in total to tell their loved ones a
bit about their work. At the same time they put their sportiness to the test, for example
with hay bale rolling or in competitions with professional handball players from HBW
Balingen-Weilstetten. They also had to use their grey cells to estimate the number of
labels that fit on a 700 kilogram heavy label roll. Who would have known offhand before
the family day that it's a whole million.
The first port of call for thirst and hunger was the large marquee. Three bands provided
musical entertainment: the Steinlach Stomper’s Dixieland Jazz Band, Rasa and Friends
and the Biraböhmische Blasmusik group, all of them with Bizerba employees as band
members. The weather also played ball. Good job there were delicious ice creams and
refreshing spritzers to cool down. The resounding tenor among visitors: an all-round
successful celebration, which they will remember for a long time and that will hopefully
take place again soon.
The event's emotional highpoint was in the early afternoon: roughly 2,000 listeners were
waiting in the 1,000 square metre marquee with anticipation for Andreas Wilhelm Kraut's
speech. And they were not disappointed. At his "baptism of fire" the new Chair of the
Management Board immediately proved that he has the skills to step into the shoes of his
grandfather, Wilhelm Kraut, and his father, Günter Kraut, men who managed Bizerba
with superb skill and great passion.
Andreas Wilhelm Kraut addressed the importance of his family and that of an intact
family right at the beginning of his speech: “Every employee needs to know their back is
covered to be motivated and work for Bizerba with total commitment. Each one of you is
part of our large Bizerba family. The secret of our success lies in this togetherness.” And
together we will continue along the path of developing innovative technology solutions
as an established international manufacturer, firmly rooted in traditions and values, which
have in the meantime proved themselves over 145 years. The visibly moved 37 year old
summed up his belief with these words. “My heart beats and aches for Bizerba!”
After his speech and accompanied by his family and countless well-wishers, Andreas
Wilhelm Kraut planted a Ginkgo tree at the head office entrance. "Ginkgo symbolises
strength and constancy, it can live up to 1,000 years of age and the Japanese and
Chinese consider it to be sacred", explained Prof. Dr. Dr. Dr. h. c. Michael Ungethüm,
Chair of the Bizerba Supervisory Board. He and Thomas Bareiß (CDU), Member of the
German Bundestag, also took the spade in their hands to place the gift to all Bizerba
employees in a prominent place.
There was something really special in the air during these moments, something important
was happening, everyone present seemed to be aware of this. Even Andreas Wilhelm
Kraut's children shovelled full of enthusiasm. Their proud father commented tongue-in-
cheek that the sixth generation was therefore also proving that they can get stuck in.
