Hannover/Germany, 05/11/2013. As in the second quarter, Hoeft&Wessel AG
again managed to generate moderate sales revenue growth in the third
quarter compared with the respective quarters a year earlier. This was most
recently the case in the first quarter of 2011 and shows that after the
restructuring phase, the volume of business of this technology enterprise
is expanding. Higher sales revenues are also anticipated for the fourth
quarter. For this reason, in presenting its Nine-Month Report 2013, Hoeft&Wessel affirms its forecast for the year as a whole with a positive
operating result for the first time in two years. The Company assumes that
EBIT will exceed EUR 1 million, and that sales revenues will amount to
approx. EUR 82 million for 2013.
The technology enterprise headquartered in Hannover, Germany, is relying on
mobility as a worldwide mega-trend, focusing on a comprehensive system
portfolio. Systems for issuing, checking and processing tickets and for
parking space management as well as mobile data capture are on offer
throughout Europe and in selected countries outside the EU. Customers come
from the fields of transport, retail and the logistics sector. Sales
revenues in the first three quarter of the current financial year 2013, at
EUR 55.9 million, were still slightly down on the previous year (2012: EUR
56.7 million). Substantial sales revenues were generated in the first nine
months of 2013 from current projects with the Belgian State Railway SNCB,
with the public transport operator of the Swiss city of Geneva, with German
retailers Edeka and Rewe as well as with the city of Riga in Latvia.
Owing to the non-recurring expenses of the capital measures successfully
concluded in mid-October and the restructuring, the operating result (EBIT)
as at 30/09/2013 was in negative territory at -EUR 3.2 million (previous
year: -EUR 7.7 million). Adjusted for these non-recurring effects, at -EUR
0.4 million, the EBIT figure was only slightly in the red.
The order intake in the first nine months of 2013, at EUR 61.4 million, was
roughly at the same level recorded the previous year (2012: EUR 61.8
million). A new customer in 2013 was Berliner Verkehrsbetriebe (BVG), a
public transport authority that placed orders for over 800 stationary and
mobile ticket vending terminals as well as a background system. Sirona,
worldwide market and technology leader in the dental industry, ordered
approx. 15,000 radio adapters. In addition, an order for over 600 mobile
ticketing terminals was received from the Slovakian Railway; the Finnish
State Railway VR placed an order for ticket vending machines to be
installed on regional trains, and the English city of Cardiff ordered
additional parking machines. As at 30/09/2013 the order backlog of the Höft&Wessel Group was up by a substantial 11 per cent compared with the end of
2012, to reach EUR 44.5 million (31/12/2012: EUR 40.0 million).
