(firmenpresse) - SUGAR LAND, TX -- (Marketwired) -- 11/05/13 -- Industrial Info Resources (Sugar Land, Texas) is tracking more than $20.5 billion in projects that are planned to kick off in the (Maryland, North Carolina, Virginia, West Virginia, and D.C.) in 2014. In terms of state spending, Maryland has been pushed to the forefront via the construction of (NYSE:D) (Richmond, Virginia) Cove Point , which has a total investment value of more than $4 billion.

In September, the U.S. Department of Energy granted permission for the plant to export up to 770 million cubic feet per day of LNG to countries without a free trade agreement with the United States -- the first such project to receive this type of permission outside of the U.S. Gulf Coast region. Other associated projects, including a 130-megwatt cogeneration power plant and associated compressor projects, also add to project spending in the region.

While the Cove Point terminal dominates the Mid-Atlantic's planned project starts, Maryland also holds its own with the construction of Old Dominion Electric Cooperative's (Glen Allen, Virginia) $1.2 billion, 1,000-MW Wildcat Point , which is tentatively planned to kick off construction in late 2014.
