Rising need of learning survival skills
Hard times are coming. It is hard not to believe that. Some say we need to prepare ourselves for the worst. Rising number of natural disasters, economy collapse might be just signs for people to start making preparations or start developing skills that our civilization forgotten. Time for people to develop survival skills of a caveman, because soon they might need to start live like one.
(firmenpresse) - Darek Reese, of Norcross Georgia, is pleased to announce the launch of his new website, www.basicsurvivalskills.org. It is aimed at everyone because, as Derek rightly believes, all of us may need survival skills one day. The website aims to teach people how to survive in all kinds of survival situations. The website teaches people how to do the necessary basic things to survive. It is centered on ensuring that people stay warm, sheltered, hydrated and fed until they can get rescued or they can reach help.
He added, “Even the recent happenings in the American economy have shown us that we should be prepared for anything. No one ever thought that in this day and age the American government could shut down. What if it went just a little further and people couldn’t access basic needs? It is possible that the next time it happens, it might cripple basic services such as electricity, water and even transportation. In such an event, the ones who have learnt how to survive in lean times will be the ones who make it out safely.
We asked Darek what led him down this path. “I am a blogger and I have a blog about survival. I became a fun of survivalism after my friend took me camping 5 years ago where we had no electricity and we had to rely on our skills. Since then I take a part in many survival events where we learn how to survive in off-grid environment. My website is my way of sharing my knowledge.”
Asked if he has been in a position where he needed to be rescued and had to survive until help arrived, he explained that he hadn’t but he understands that it could happen at any time; he could go on a trek and leave the trail and suddenly find himself lost. In such an event, he would be able to find shelter, clean water for drinking and even send the proper signals to indicate that he was in distress.
The website offers very specific information on what you should do in a survival situation. It teaches you several ways that you can make fire without using a lighter or matches. One video shows you how to start a fire by use of friction. It also features a small article on how to start a fire using a lens and sunlight. There is a video that teaches how to make a survival water filter so that survivors can ensure they are not poisoned by drinking dirty water. It also covers the different kinds of shelters you should look for if you find yourself stranded, and recommends that in case you cannot find a shelter, you have to build one. It also covers navigation and teaches you how to read maps and a compass.
