BDI - BioEnergy International AG: strong sales growth in the third quarter
of 2013 confirms successful turnaround
* Sales 38.9% higher in the first nine months of 2013
* EBIT of EUR 0.9 million compared with loss in the same period the
previous year
* New commissions for Multi-Feedstock BioDiesel plant and RetroFit projects
(Grambach, 14.11.2013) In the third quarter, BDI - BioEnergy International
AG increased sales substantially and obtained commissions for the
construction of a new BioDiesel plant and for the extension/optimisation of
existing BioDiesel plants. The encouraging development of the business in
the third quarter led to sales growth of 38.9% in the first nine months of
2013 to EUR 26.5 million. Earnings before interest and tax (EBIT) rose
considerably to EUR 0.9 million, while period earnings improved to EUR 1.6
million compared with negative earnings in 2012, which was a transition
year. The orders on hand totalled EUR 30.8 million on 30 September 2013 and
form the basis for further positive development of the business operations.
The cash flow from operating activity also improved considerably in the
quarter that ended on 30 September 2013, amounting to EUR 6.1 million
following -EUR 6.7 million in the previous year. The cash and security
portfolio remains large, totalling EUR 42.1 million, i.e. EUR 11.08 per
share, at the end of the period under review. With equity of EUR 52.0
million and an equity ratio of 68.9%, BDI is in a very good position to
implement the strategic optimisation and expansion of the business model.
The start-up of the biggest Multi-Feedstock BioDiesel plant in France began
in the third quarter. Locally sourced animal fats that cannot be used for
human consumption and used cooking oil are the raw materials processed. The
plant was officially opened in early November and will be producing about
75 000 tonnes of BioDiesel per year in future.
