BASF 'Team Chemistry Challenge' Announced at University of Texas

During Saturday's University of Texas football game, BASF Corporation will be announcing its to promote collaboration among university students to find innovative new ways to make athletics more sustainable. A total of $25,000 will be awarded to the top submissions as judged by a panel of BASF and University of Texas personnel.
"The Team Chemistry Challenge is designed to facilitate discussion in a fun and engaging way about finding innovative ways to make athletics more sustainable," said Tom Yura, Senior Vice President and General Manager of BASF's Geismar, Louisiana, site and a University of Texas alumnus. "We're challenging students to find new ways to lessen the environmental impact game day can create."
The contest -- open to full-time undergraduate and graduate students at the University of Texas -- will be officially launched by BASF on November 16 and will run until April of 2014.
"Sustainability and environment-friendly causes are central to the University of Texas Athletics culture," said Ed Goble, Executive Senior Associate Athletics Director, Facilities, Events and Operations at the University of Texas. "BASF's efforts on this initiative fall right in line with our own sustainability projects as part of the university's commitment to maintaining first class academics, athletics and facilities. We are proud to be part of this innovative student competition that we hope will also benefit our athletics department in the long run."
BASF also ran a "Team Chemistry Challenge" at the University of Michigan.
