Zhone Technologies Receives JTIC Certification for its FiberLAN Solution
Zhone's FiberLAN OLT and ONT PON Approved for U.S. Military Use
Oakland, CA - November 19, 2013 - Zhone Technologies, Inc. (NASDAQ: ZHNE), a
global leader in FTTx network access solutions, today announced that its
FiberLAN Optical Line Terminal (OLT) and Optical Network Terminals (ONT) Passive
Optical Network (PON) with Software Release 2.4.1 has received Joint
Interoperability Certification from the Defense Information Systems Agency. The
Joint Interoperability Test Command (JITC) is the established certification
authority for Unified Capabilities (UC) products. This certification allows
Zhone the opportunity to bid on military and government contracts, providing a
robust PON based solution to support mission-critical communications.

pack panels and racks by streamlining the infrastructure with a single mode
fiber optic cable, conserving energy and reducing operational costs," said Brian
Caskey, chief marketing officer at Zhone Technologies. "Through the JTIC
Certification, Zhone's technologically advanced FiberLAN solution is now
approved for use by the United States military."
FiberLAN is a high-performance and high-density, GPON-based Optical LAN solution
(OLS), delivering high-speed data, voice and video to multi-level, multi-unit
commercial and industrial complexes. It is scalable for a single or multilevel
building, or large campus environments where customers are installing new
facilities or upgrading their current LAN infrastructures. Zhone FiberLAN is a
next generation Optical LAN Solution built entirely on industry leading
standards.
The Joint Interoperability Test Command at Fort Huachuca, Ariz., currently runs
a program to test technology of relevance for military branches and services.
The organization performs standards conformance testing of High Frequency radio
systems and data modems. The test determines the technology's level of
compliance to the requirements of Military Standard.
