New Ag Publication Focuses on Grains
(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/20/13 -- A brand new agricultural magazine aimed at grain farmers is launching this January.
The publication, GrainsWest, will look at industry news, agronomic practices and priority issues for farmers. There will also be profiles of industry leaders - the movers and shakers of Canadian agriculture.
GrainsWest's primary purpose is to actively communicate with stakeholders of the two funding organizations, Alberta Barley and the Alberta Wheat Commission (AWC).
"GrainsWest magazine is our way of reaching out to farmers across Alberta," said Alberta Barley Chairman Matt Sawyer. "This is the first major joint initiative between our organization and the Alberta Wheat Commission, and is a real sign of our commitment to maximize farmer dollars and show real value to our members."
Alberta Wheat Commission Chairman Kent Erickson agreed.
"This magazine is another way for us to show value to stakeholders across the province by providing the relevant and in-depth wheat-and-barley-specific information that they seek," said Erickson.
GrainsWest's name pays tribute to Western Canada and the provinces that produce the majority of grain in Canada.
The magazine's Editorial Advisory Board is comprised of elected members from both commissions, as well as staff. The publication will be distributed four times per year. Three issues will focus on research, policy, news and agronomy, while the fourth will centre on consumers, nutrition and lifestyle. The first issue is due in mailboxes mid-January 2014.
