One of Three Homes in a Historic Logan Circle Alley Sold Immediately and Another Makes Its Debut on the Neighborhood's Holiday Home Tour

(firmenpresse) - CABIN JOHN, MD -- (Marketwired) -- 11/21/13 -- Behind the grand facades of Victorian homes that lined DC's streets throughout the 1800s, a hidden network of alleyways revealed a more pedestrian life of tiny homes and stables. Those alleyways have transformed over the years in many ways. Some were rebuilt into homes decades ago. Some provide storage space for those who live on the perimeter. And some have gone fallow -- the kinds of places you don't walk through alone at night. One, however, has eclipsed all others to become DC's newest and most unique address.

The Stables at Naylor Court revitalizes and transforms one of DC's rare, historic, H-shaped alleyways with three upscale townhomes, each with its own detached carriage house for storage and parking. Located between the city's Shaw and Logan Circle neighborhoods, and bound by 9th, 10th, M and O Streets, NW, The Stables delivers the insular privacy of a hidden enclave with the unmatched convenience of a desirable downtown address. Within just a block or two, residents can find all the necessities of life, from hip restaurants, pharmacies, boutiques and new City Market at O with the largest grocery store in the city. Both the Metro and the nucleus of DC night life are just minutes away by foot.

Built by OPaL, it also brings the company's unique design sense to the fore. The Stables at Naylor Court reflect a historic equestrian sensibility, with heavy brick cornices, sliding barn door entrances and handmade shutters. Each four-story, three-bedroom, 2600 square-foot home boasts a roof terrace and modern touches like a lower level media room. Each also comes with something nearly unheard of in the city's townhomes -- two private, off-street parking spaces behind a gated motor court.

OPaL is known for finding prime lots in highly desirable locations, but The Stables at Naylor Court is their first project in DC. Building in a historic district, they were sensitive to matching the mood of the neighborhood and, according to those who toured the homes during the Grand Opening, they succeeded. "Many of our guests were surprised the homes were built new from the ground up because they looked so integrated into the neighborhood," says Sean Ruppert, President of OPaL. "The contrast between the crumbling garages that once stood here and the beautiful homes here now is mind blowing, even for me."

The interior design by Shawn Evans at P Four is also getting attention. This year's power color, emerald green, adds a vibrant pop to the base palette of black and white, giving the feeling of a home where someone truly special must live. In fact, the model home was chosen as one of just 10 homes on this year's Logan Circle Holiday Home Tour, an unprecedented privilege for the "new guy on the block."

OPaL won Home of the Year at both the 2011 and 2012 regional GALA awards, but Ruppert feels that the homes at The Stables outshine even those masterworks. "This is the best project we've ever done. With all the awards we've received for design and craftsmanship over the years, nothing matches not just the design of these homes, but also the workmanship of the build and the thought that went into making them a seamless part of their Shaw neighborhood. I have always had high standards for our homes and live in one myself. But somehow we managed to outdo ourselves on this project."

The Grand Opening for The Stables at Naylor Court was on November 10, 2013, with more than 100 guests getting the first peeks into the homes. One residence has already sold and just two of the $1.6M+ properties remain. OPaL partnered with KB Developers on the project and the homes were designed by OPaL's award-winning architect, Gregory Sparhawk. While The Stables is OPaL's first completed project in DC, they are also currently working on Canal Mews, a community of two single-family, detached graystones in Palisades and a custom home in Cleveland Park.

Based in Cabin John, MD, OPaL is a local builder specializing in developing small, well-located, close-in communities. With over 15 years of experience in the homebuilding industry and numerous awards, OPaL's extraordinary vision brings a whole new dimension to the Washington, DC and Baltimore areas. The company builds only a handful of new townhomes and single-family homes each year, preferring quality, individuality and location over cookie-cutter appeal. All of the more than 134 homes built by OPaL since its inception are characterized by truly unique architecture, impeccable details and deep thought for the lifestyles of their owners.
