Coursera Secures $20 Million in Additional Funding From University Partners and Current Investors
Leading Online Learning Provider Is Poised to Accelerate the Delivery of Education for Everyone

(firmenpresse) - MOUNTAIN VIEW, CA -- (Marketwired) -- 11/22/13 -- , a leading massive open online course (MOOC) platform, today announced that the company has added $20 million to its latest funding round, bringing the total Series B raise to $63 million. This latest investment includes funding from three universities that offer courses on Coursera, as well as two existing Series B investors focused on education -- GSV Capital and Learn Capital.
Coursera has been preparing for its next phase of growth by working with universities to create and offer compelling content to students, as well as developing its internal capacity. The financing announced today will further support these initiatives, which focus on ongoing technological developments, strategic partnerships and the build-out of Coursera's product and recruiting teams, including the recent hiring of tech industry leaders John Ciancutti and Tom Willerer to develop Coursera's global offerings and enhance the user experience.
