burgbad AG: Results for 1st half of 2010
Bad Fredeburg, 12 August 2010 - burgbad AG, the European market leader for
premium bathroom furniture, can look back on a satisfactory 1st half of
2010. At EUR 41.4 million, burgbad's sales improved by 2.5% compared with
the figure of EUR 40.4 million reported for the 1st half of 2009. Sales in
Germany grew from EUR 24.2 million to EUR 26.2 million, while sales abroad
decreased by EUR 1.0 million to EUR 15.2 million. International sales
therefore accounted for 36.7% of total sales (previous year's period:
40.1%).
On the earnings side, burgbad generated earnings before interest and taxes
(EBIT) of EUR 3.5 million in the 1st half of 2010, compared with EUR 3.8
million in the previous year's period. This slight reduction in earnings
was due above all to increased personnel expenses. The EBIT margin thus
amounted to 8.3%, as against 9.4% in the previous year. Net income for the
first six months was reported at EUR 2.5 million (1st half of 2009: EUR 2.7
million). Earnings per share amounted to EUR 0.70, compared with EUR 0.75
in the same period in the previous year.
With regard to the 2010 financial year as a whole, the Management Board
expects burgbad to outperform the overall market.
