Eindhoven, September 07, 2010 - Catalis SE, worldwide service provider for
the digital media and entertainment industry, is pleased to announce that
Nintendo's Art Academy has been enjoying chart success and consistent sales
in Europe in the four weeks since its release. This, the retail version of
'Art Academy: Learn painting and drawing techniques with step-by-step
training', is an intricate new concept that transforms the Nintendo DS or
DSi device and stylus into a canvas and brush.
Having sold 145,000 units in Japan in ten weeks since its original release
in the territory, the European launch has been another success story, with
80,000 copies sold since August 6. The instant success of the game,
developed by Kuju's London-based Headstrong Games, was bolstered by
consistent good reviews and led to a surge in demand that surpassed
expectations and left some retail outlets out of stock. Despite this, these
strong sales figures were recorded and all involved with the game have been
delighted by the reception.
Steve Pritchard, studio head of Headstrong Games who said 'We're delighted
to see that, after sales of over 145,000 in the first ten weeks on sale in
Japan, European sales look set to leapfrog that number. It's testament to
the quality of the game and its broad age group and demographic appeal.'
With positive reviews, a wide scale TV advert campaign by Nintendo and
excitement continuing to build, the scheduled US release is well-timed -
hitting American streets on October 25, ideally poised for the Thanksgiving
holiday and swiftly following release in Australia at the end of September
and Korea in mid-October.
Art Academy is currently the number one selling DS title on Amazon in
