Eindhoven, September 17, 2010 - Catalis SE, worldwide service provider for
the digital media and entertainment industry, is pleased to announce that
Warner Brothers Interactive Entertainment has released 'The Lord of the
Rings: Aragorn's Quest', developed by Kuju studio Headstrong Games for the
Wii platform.
Aimed at both parents and families, players can participate as the hero
Aragorn, embarking on quests and battles that shadow the events of the
familiar book trilogy. Play revolves around well-known scenes from The
Lord of the Rings, riding horses into combat and using the Wii motion
controller to act out swordfights as they travel through Middle Earth
battling Sauron's minions. The action is guided by narration from Sean
Astin and John Rhys-Davies, who reprise their film roles to provide the
voices of Samwise Gamgee and Gimli from the books. For a more social
playing experience, a second player can take part in the action as Gandalf,
cooperating with Aragorn.
London's Headstrong Games developed the family-friendly, 'T for Teen'-rated
game for the Wii platform, creating a dynamic, authentic gameplay
experience combining the all-action nature of the Wii controller with
faithful adaptation of the much-loved tales.
Studio head Steve Pritchard said that 'The Lord of the Rings: Aragorn's
Quest provided us with a fantastic opportunity to work with a genre
defining and seminal IP, one that is much loved within our studio, and to
create an experience that will hopefully introduce a whole new audience to
Tolkien's world. We sincerely hope our portrayal of Middle Earth, and in
particular the telling of Aragorn's story through the War of the Ring,
encourages gamers, young and old, to take up their swords and immerse
themselves in one of the greatest fantasy stories ever told. And we hope
they have as much fun playing the game as Headstrong did in developing it.'
