Höhr-Grenzhausen, 8th October 2010: The IBS Audit Software solution at
Siemens Energy provides a common platform for efficient planning,
execution, and evaluation of company relevant audits. Every Siemens Energy
location worldwide can access the data via an internet connection (HTTP&TCP) with the database server and the IBS Audit application installed at
Siemens Erlangen (Germany). Data transfer uses SSL encryption.
Siemens significantly reduces its hardware and maintenance costs by
providing a centralized solution. In the past, every Siemens location using
the mandated audit management application had to have a separate CITRIX
server. In addition, the audit software had to be installed manually on
every computer. These challenges are eliminated by using Microsoft's 'Click
Once Technology'.
Today, 50,000 Siemens Energy employees have access to and use the IBS Audit
application via the centralized installation at Siemens Erlangen. The
application automatically installs itself on the user's desktop upon
request. The IBS Audit application is currently used by several thousand
Siemens employees.
'In addition to reducing costs through centralization, costs are further
lowered by reducing documentation and archiving efforts. We are using the
Audit application for internal process audits, the documentation of
external audits (customer and certification audits), as well as, for
response tracking - e.g. from reviews. With the support of an IMS
(Integrated Management System), several audit types can be conducted at the
same time in a integrated fashion thus reducing separate evaluation by
audit types', according to Mr. Jürgen Peterson, Audit Project Lead, Siemens
AG.
According to Michael Kröschel, principle developer at IBS AG, 'The
completeness and extension of the SOA framework is a main goal for the
future development of products at IBS. In addition to Audit, the other
applications which are part of this platform are 'portal' and FPM (Failure
Process Matrix) as well as the evaluation application Cockpit. Additional
modules will be released later this year'.
