Waikiki Beach Marriott Resort & Spa tree inspired by Hawaiian Chant of Creation

The theme of the Christmas tree at this was inspired by Queen Liliuokalani's 1897 English translation of the Kumulipo, or Hawaiian Chant of Creation. According to the chant, the world was created in 16 Wa, or periods, beginning with the first Wa and the evolution of the ocean and its sea life.
The theme of this Honolulu resort's tree is illustrated in the ornaments, which focus on the creatures of the ocean and include starfish, sea urchin, limpet, crab, eel, fish, sea turtle, octopus, mermaid, seahorse and jellyfish.
The creation of the ornaments was a community effort that brought together this Waikiki spa resort with the staff of the Honolulu Unit of the Queen Lili'uokalani Children's Center and the communities that they serve. More than 100 participants helped to prepare and place the ornaments including those from ALU LIKE, Inc. Kupuna Program; Farrington High School; Kalakaua Middle School; Kokua Kalihi Valley, Kalihi Calls; Lincoln Elementary School; Na Lei Malama Keiki and Stevenson Middle School.
