Commentary and Update - 1st Quarter 2011
Dyesol - At the Forefront of DSC Industrialisation

Dyesol has enjoyed a satisfying quarter with measurable progress on all
headline projects and further progress behind the scenes. The company is in
a very important transition phase as foreshadowed to the market in the
previous quarterly 4C release. This signifies a confident company with
committed, world-class partnerships. The implications of this are greater
commitment of resources at the project level, sharpening of focus on
providing next generation technology and reduction in costs associated with
new business development. Simply, this means that we are now in close
alignment with the business development plans of our existing
multi-national partners and comfortable there are the experience, resources
and commitment to address the multiple commercial opportunities for the
global BIPV market place.

Importantly, the business plan and budget that emerged from the Company's
strategy session in May of this year project no further growth in head
count in the Company's global operations. This is consistent with cash
resourcing and the progress towards greater materials sales as projects
scale-up in the pre-commercialisation phase. For example, the Tata Steel
(Corus) Dyesol PV Accelerator has now commenced the industrialisation phase
of the WAG supported project. Australian sourced personnel provided the
foundation for resourcing of this project in 2008 and soon we expect to
begin resourcing other projects in the US and Europe.

During the quarter, we commenced the previously announced collaboration
with the CSIRO and saw the benefits of our equipment outsourcing programme

as equipment designed by Dyesol was shipped directly to European customers
from Malaysia. Our Korean subsidiary (Dyesol-Timo) is proving a cost
effective contributor to our development programme, especially since we
have achieved significant grant funds from the Korean government programmes
to support its operations. In the USA, our joint venture with Pilkington,
DyeTec Solar has been active in planning our business execution strategy,
and positioning us to participate in the attractive US government
programmes to support solar business. In Europe, research consortia
involving our UK, Swiss and Italian subsidiaries have entered contracts
which will fund exciting next generation research.

In the USA next month, Dyesol is the lead sponsor for the 4th International
Conference for the Industrialisation of DSC at Colorado Springs. Dyesol
organised the first DSC-IC in Canberra in 2006, the second in 2008 in St
Gallen, Switzerland and the third in 2009 in Nara, Japan. This year we have
handed over the organisation to a professional conference organiser,
IntertechPira so that we no longer need to staff the detailed events
management, while continuing to enjoy the Dyesol brand endorsement which
the series of conferences has brought to us. This is significant as it
indicates that the traction and acceptance of this game-changing technology
continues to spread. Delegates from all over the world will attend to hear
Professor Graetzel, Dr Gavin Tulloch and others, including the conference
Co-Chairman, Arthur Frank, Principal Scientist at the US National Renewable
Energy Laboratories (NREL). As a third generation technology, it is gaining
universal acceptance and potential partners are emerging for applications
beyond glass and strip steel.

Note to editors
The Technology - DYE SOLAR CELLS
DSC technology can best be described as 'artificial photosynthesis' using
an electrolyte, a layer of titania (a pigment used in white paints and
tooth paste) and ruthenium dye deposited on glass, metal or polymer
substrates. Light striking the dye excites electrons which are absorbed by
the titania to become an electric current many times stronger than that
found in natural photosynthesis in plants. Compared to conventional silicon
based photovoltaic technology, Dyesol's technology has lower cost and
embodied energy in manufacture, it produces electricity more efficiently
even in low light conditions and can be directly incorporated into
buildings by replacing conventional glass panels or metal sheets rather
than taking up roof or extra land area.

The Company - DYESOL Limited
Dyesol is located in Queanbeyan NSW (near Canberra) and in August 2005 was
listed on the Australian Stock Exchange (ASX Code 'DYE'). Dyesol
manufactures and supplies a range of dye solar cell products comprising
equipment, chemicals, materials, components and related services to
researchers and manufacturers of DSC. The Company is playing a key role in
taking this third generation solar technology out of the laboratory and
into the community.
