S.A.G. Solarstrom AG constructs 2.13 MWp installation on former waste
disposal site in Spaichingen
Installation will be connected to public grid by the end of 2010
Freiburg, November 19, 2010. S.A.G. Solarstrom AG (German security
identification number: 702 100, ISIN: DE0007021008) has signed a contract
with the town of Spaichingen to construct a 2.13 MWp photovoltaic
installation on the site of a former excavated soil landfill.
S.A.G. Solarstrom AG will set up the system as general contractor. The town
of Spaichingen will lease the site to the future investor of the
installation. Several purchase inquiries have already been received for the
project, on which construction is to start immediately.
A 2.13 MWp photovoltaic system is to be constructed on the 3.2 hectare site
of the former excavated soil landfill 'Hofer Ried' in the town of
Spaichingen in Baden-Württemberg in the next few weeks. The system will be
connected to the public grid by the end of 2010. From 2011, it will
generate electricity of around 2,200 MWh per year, which will supply
approximately 500 four-person households every year and save 1,450 tons of
CO2.
'In this project, we are using technology, particularly in the supporting
structures, that has proven its worth several times in similar projects',
says Dr. Karl Kuhlmann. 'The photovoltaic installation in Spaichingen is
thus an excellent example of a useful conversion of former waste disposal
sites to generate green electricity.'
