The Ashbourne Duathlon, which takes place on 6th April at Carsington Water, Ashbourne, will see a multitude of trained athletes compete across a 5k run, 30k bike ride and a 5k run around the challenging, yet beautiful setting of the reservoir area.

Nrgize Health and Fitness, whose Derby Sports Injury Clinic is attracting more and more athletes interested in sports massage, sports rehabilitation and physiotherapy will be helping contenders to re-energise and to aid recovery through post event sports massage.

Nina Flint of Nrgize commented: “Post event sports massage will help the athletes reduce lactic acid build up, reduce stiffness and to minimise the effect of DOMS (Delayed Onset Muscle Soreness), enabling them to make a much better recovery in time for their next bout of training or next event”. Athletes signing up for the event can pre-book their sports massage for £7.50, or can pay £10 on the day of the event.

Nrgize Health and Fitness are also offering contenders a package of three sports massage treatments surrounding the event, geared towards helping athletes get the most out of their training and recovery. Nrgize's experience has shown that athletes that take up 2 pre-event treatments and 1 post-event treatment preform markedly better than those that do not. The package includes a postural assessment aimed at improving any muscular imbalances, targeted deep tissue sports massage and a personalised exercise and stretching program to aid their training. Athletes taking up this specialist package will benefit from improved race preparation and an improved recovery process for the price of just £90 (saving £15 on normal prices).
