Deutsche Wohnen moves up to MDAX
Frankfurt am Main / Berlin, 6 December 2010. Deutsche Wohnen AG will be
listed in Deutsche Börse's MDAX in the future. Deutsche Wohnen AG is to
replace Postbank AG in the index of mid-sized German joint stock companies
as of 8 December 2010. The decision to include Deutsche Wohnen AG was taken
on the evening of 3 December in Frankfurt.
Michael Zahn, CEO of Deutsche Wohnen AG said, 'We are proud to be included
in the MDAX. This move confirms the sustainability and solidity of our
business model. The markets have responded very positively to our
performance over recent months. So it is only natural that from December
2010 we will be one of the 50 mid-sized German stock corporations from
classical industrial sectors that come after the 30 DAX companies. This
will be a great motivation for us to meet all the expectations that are now
being placed in us.'
Deutsche Börse describes the MDAX on its website under the heading 'A focus
on traditional sectors' as an index that contains 'solid, strong brand
names and highly specialised companies that are leaders in their field with
constant earnings development'. Deutsche Wohnen AG's move upwards was not
scheduled; the takeover of Postbank AG by Deutsche Bank meant that a place
in the MDAX had to be filled.
