A "Hawaii Triathlon" in Europe!

(firmenpresse) - In the shadow of the highest mountain of Spain, this year will take place again the middle distance triathlon "Teide Xtreme" in Tenerife. Several climates, a diverse flora and topography similar to Hawaii characterize the canarian "Big Island".

"Teide Xtreme", with its stunning combination of volcanic mountains, the Ocean and marvelous Atlantic climate, is the perfect alternative to Hawaii for European triathletes. In the centre of the island, rises the Pico del Teide with its 3.718 meters and visible from almost any locations. If you approach it on the bike, then you know what you have done. The roads, which lead through the Caldera area around this volcano, located at over 2.200 meters above sea level.

"Teide Xtreme" consists of a 1.9km swim, followed by a 95 km cycle through the crater area and finally a 21 km run. The bike course promises a fight against the volcano "El Teide" and your inner demon. The athletes are forced from the track, to an altitude of more than 2.200m and then proving their total concentration in a rapid descent. The Promenade on 6 meters above sea level is the end of this volcano trip.

"Teide Xtreme” comes to the end at the beach promenade of Playa de las Americas. The run course is a fast one, and involves three almost entirely flat laps beside the beaches of Playa del Bobo and Playa de Las Vistas.

Through the last year's participation of the Ironman World Champion from Kona 2013, Frederik van Lierde, shows that this middle distance triathlon deserves a permanent place in the calendar of triathletes.
