euromicron strengthens its commitment in Austria by purchasing NBG

euromicron acquires NBG Fiber Optics GmbH from Leoni AG and WCS Benelux
B.V. in the Netherlands
Frankfurt/Main, December 17, 2010 - euromicron AG has restructured its
commitment in Austria in 2009 and, following the tough environment in
wireless communications business, has geared it to the euromicron Group's
core business. By entering the Austrian network market, the euromicron
Group is clearly developing its activities in the country in line with the
Group's entire portfolio. The Austrian market has responded very positively
to this approach, as reflected in initial and high-quality orders.
euromicron has thus been able to gain great acceptance in the Austrian
network market in the first year of its realignment.
By acquiring NBG Fiber Optics GmbH, a former subsidiary of Leoni AG,
euromicron will boost the pace of this realignment process. NBG Fiber
Optics is an acknowledged company that has been operating in the Austrian
market for many years and specializes, among other things, in
fiber-to-the-home (FTTH) solutions. With this strategically motivated
takeover, euromicron will expand its development and production know-how in
the field of fiber optic-based passive components, further build on its
expertise in fiber-to-the-home solution business and strengthen its
presence in Austria. The new euromicron NBG is thus a system house with
production expertise, similar to the lineup of the euromicron Group
overall. The Group therefore expects a significant increase in sales in
Austria in the coming years and stabilization of its earnings strength at
euromicron's level. That will mean additional sales of EUR8 to EUR12
million for 2011, with good earnings opportunities in the very first year.
The planned merger under the roof of euromicron Holding GmbH in 2011 will
mean that the Austria region will then have a powerful business unit - to
the benefit of customers. That accords with euromicron's strategy as a
leading vendor of all-round network infrastructure solutions.
euromicron NBG Fiber Optics GmbH is a provider of all-round solutions that
cater for a wide range of passive system components, such as fiber-optic
cables, empty pipe systems and connection technology and provides planning,
engineering, project management and installation services, mainly in
German-speaking countries.
The acquisition of WSC Benelux B.V. in Amersfoort (Netherlands) will also
enable euromicron AG to expand its international strategy and create a base
for developing its operations in the Benelux region.
