Nigerian schoolgirl levels serious accusations against security forces
(PresseBox) - In an interview with DW, one of the abducted schoolgirls in Northern Nigeria has made serious allegations against the security forces and against her school.
Several of the more than 200 schoolgirls kidnapped by the extremist group Boko Haram in mid-April managed to escape in the evening shortly after the attack. Esther Musa (name changed), who fled from captivity, spoke with DW reporters near Yola.
Before the school was attacked, the police officers and teachers "were no longer there. They ran away," said the schoolgirl, adding "it looks like someone said that Boko Haram wants to attack the school and that all the children should go home."
But she said the girls were then told if they ran away, their final exam would not count.
Esther Musa said that she believed that the schoolgirls being held in captivity were still alive. "I feel very sorry for them," she added.
She said there had been no help or psychological support so far. She said she would like to go back to school, but she was afraid. "I'm not going back to the school in Chibok. I would like to go to another school, somewhere else."
