Seesmart(R) Retrofits U.S. Federal Building
Simi Valley, CA, USA - March 21, 2011- Seesmart(R) LED, a U.S.-based
manufacturer of commercial and residential LED lighting products, has
completed its first retrofit of a United State's Federal Building. The
six-story building stands in the U.S. Midwest and the retrofit project
included every interior light in the facility.
In total, over 5,000 fluorescent four-foot tube lights, 180 60-Watt flood
lights, and six 100-Watt incandescent bulbs were replaced with low-wattage
Seesmart LEDs. The project included $238,000 in Seesmart product and is
expected to pay for itself in energy savings in just over two years.
Immediately upon installing the new LEDs, the Federal Building witnessed a
decrease of over 50% its lighting energy consumption. The new lights are
also healthier and safer than the fluorescent lights previously installed:
unlike fluorescents, Seesmart LEDs neither produce UV nor contain mercury.
Seesmart LEDs also carry a three or five-year warranty, depending upon the
product, so the new lights will not need to be replaced for years.
The Federal Building's basement, elevators, lobbies, hallways and offices
are now aglow with clean, efficient LED lighting. The building is a prime
example of facilities at the forefront of an initiative endorsed by White
House to use the most environmentally-friendly technology available to
'green' buildings. Other Federal Buildings and government-owned facilities
around the country are now following suit and working with Seesmart to
develop cleaner, greener lighting solutions.
