Pembleton Minerals Sees Potential Impact from Japanese Nuclear Reactor
Crisis
Toronto, Canada - March 22, 2011
Pembleton Minerals and Metallurgical Co. Ltd. (Pembleton): Deutsche Börse
symbol: 7PB (www.pembletonminerals.com), anticipates that the Fukushima
Dai-Ichi plant disaster may have an impact on the proliferation of nuclear
energy around the world.
Company management foresees that many nuclear projects may be delayed while
waiting to see the outcome of the Fukushima Dai-Ichi tragedy. The crisis
in Japan could delay plans for a new generation of British nuclear power
stations, dealing a blow to that country's atomic energy industry's hopes
for a£30bn boost. Anti-nuclear campaigners are demanding government
suspend Britain's plans for new nuclear build until a full safety review is
carried out following the Japanese disaster.
Despite the British government's avowed faith in nuclear power, it has
responded to public anxiety and asked the chief nuclear inspector, Mike
Weightman, to produce a report on the implications of the situation in
Japan.
Germany has ordered the temporary shutdown of the country's seven oldest
nuclear reactors while authorities conduct safety probes. Similar
anti-nuclear protesting in other countries may result in similar rethinking
of nuclear power.
The Company foresees that these delays and potential cancellations may
result in greater reliance on coal fired power plants moving forward in
some regions, especially in countries where there is strong public opinion
against nuclear power.
These developments may result in higher coal prices in the future, to the
benefit Pembleton.
