Mainstream News Organizations Should Devote More Time To Good Stories

(firmenpresse) - Miami, Florida, United States of America – September 08th, 2014 – It's a familiar scene, played every night in countless homes across the United States -- switching on the news brings a blizzard of bad news into the home -- but where are the positive stories?

Smiling Times, a positive internet news outlet has created a petition asking major networks, including NBC, CCN, Fox and others to devote just a small percentage of their broadcast news to positive stories.

The move is designed to kick back against the adverse effects that a constant stream of bad news can bring emotions such as sadness, tension, fright and fear to people, which can have an adverse effect on their health in the long run.

Research has shown that positive news is the perfect antidote to this; not only are people happier, they're also more relaxed and peaceful. A spokesman for Smiling Times today said "we're not asking for blanket good news -- we're asking for something to balance out all the horrible news and remind viewers that the world has as much good, if not more, as evil."

The online petition can be found on Change.org (https://www.change.org/p/abc-petitioning-nbc-abc-cnn-cbs-news-corp-and-fox-news), and Smiling Times urges people to sign up today. Make the big broadcasters listen to the voice of the American people and bring some sunshine and joy into the living room!
