Solid Q1, continuing growth trend
- Sales +14% / EBITDA +27% / EBIT +40%
- VAR business now fully profitable
Wessling, May 2, 2011 - Mensch und Maschine Software SE (MUM - ISIN
DE0006580806), a CAD/CAM specialist company, continued the sales and profit
growth trend from the previous year with a solid Q1/2011.
Sales climbed by 14% to EUR 59.06 mln (PY: 51.83), operating earnings
EBITDA rose to EUR 2.85 mln (PY: 2.25 / +27%). EBITDA margin at 4.8% (PY:
4.3%) was within the 4 to 5 percent target corridor estimated for 2011. As
depreciation and amortization was nearly constant, EBIT increased by a
satisfactory 40% to EUR 2.04 mln (PY: 1.46).
The financial result was significantly loaded by negative currency effects
and amounted to EUR -0.78 mln (PY: -0.28), so that net profit rose just
slightly to EUR 0.76 mln (PY: 0.75), after minority shares, or 5 Cents per
share (PY: 5).
Nearly 30% sales growth to EUR 17.55 mln (PY: 13.55) and segment EBITDA
amounting to EUR?0.79 mln (PY: -0.16) indicate that the VAR business is on
the right way two years after it started. Even on EBIT level, after
deduction of depreciation and amortization of the acquisitions, a clearly
positive EUR?0.30 mln (PY:?-0.64) result came in. Gross margin amounting to
EUR 6.80 mln (PY: 5.22 / +30%) now represents the highest contribution, at
36.5% (PY: 32.2%), to group gross margin amounting to EUR 18.64 mln (PY:
16.24 / +15%).
In the Distribution segment, sales grew to EUR 34.70 mln (PY: 32.25 /
+7.6%), with segment EBITDA less good than the previous year, but still
contributing the highest share to group EBITDA with an amount of EUR 1.16
mln (PY: 1.58 / -26%).
A further increased contribution came from the Software segment with sales
amounting to EUR 6.81 mln (PY: 6.03 / +13%) and segment EBITDA amounting to
EUR 0.89 mln (PY: 0.83 / +7%). EBITDA margin at 13.1% (PY:?13.7%) remained
in the double digit area. Maintenance contract business also grew, which
resulted in deferred revenues increasing to EUR 4.56 mln (Mar 31, 2010:
4.02 / +13% // Dec 31, 2010: 1.05).
'The business development during the first three months was within the
estimated range both in sales and earnings' M+M CEO Adi Drotleff states.
'This makes us optimistic that the target ranges for fiscal year 2011,
given in the annual report 2010, should be achievable. So from this actual
point of view, we target approx. 12-13% sales increase to approx. EUR 220
mln, along with EBITDA margin in the 4 to 5 percent range. This would
result in a bandwidth of EUR 9 to 11 mln (PY: 6.1) for EBITDA, with net
profit ranging from EUR 2.9 to 4.4 mln (PY: -0.5) and EPS from 20 to 30
Cents (PY: -3). If we achieve these targets, 20 Cents per share dividend
payment is planned.'
