(firmenpresse) - OAK HAMMOCK MARSH, MANITOBA -- (Marketwired) -- 10/08/14 -- Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is celebrating the miracle of migration.

Migration Week honours one of nature's greatest spectacles. DUC encourages all Canadians to get outdoors and experience the wonder that is migration. A brand new microsite - migrationweek.org - provides fun and practical migration information, along with simple ways to get out and enjoy it.

Migration brings to mind millions of birds rising from a wetland to begin their journey south. And they're not the only ones to migrate. Many other animals do it. It's beautiful. It's mind-blowing. And, it happens like clockwork every year.

"Migration Week is a great opportunity for Canadians to get outdoors and experience a familiar sight that we may take for granted," says Dr. Karla Guyn, DUC's National Director of Conservation. "Migration is a real testament to DUC's efforts to conserve wetlands and other outdoor spaces where these incredible journeys take place. Without healthy, productive habitat, we would not be able to witness the miracle of migration."

DUC conserves wetlands that bring migration to life. Wetlands are stopovers for millions of waterfowl and other wildlife making their seasonal journeys and provide critical habitat throughout the year. Migration Week offers the chance for Canadians to experience the sights and sounds of migration, beginning an annual tradition to take fall celebrations outdoors.

Throughout the week, the new microsite will showcase various migration stories and information, along with incredible video and maps to help find a wetland near you. A photo contest will also be held inviting all photographers to submit their favourite migration moment. For more information and photo contest rules and regulations visit migrationweek.org.

Ducks Unlimited Canada (DUC) is the leader in wetland conservation. A registered charity, DUC partners with government, industry, non-profit organizations and landowners to conserve wetlands that are critical to waterfowl, wildlife and the environment. Learn more at ducks.ca.
