Maria Knapik and Michel Brousseau to perform "Piesni" Chopin's Songs for Voice and Piano at Carnegie Hall, New York

(firmenpresse) - OTTAWA, ONTARIO -- (Marketwired) -- 10/09/14 -- Maria Knapik, soprano and Michel Brousseau, piano will perform Piesni - Chopin's Songs for Voice and Piano, Op. 74, in Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall on Saturday, October 25, 2014 at 2 PM.
Polish-born soprano Maria Knapik and Montreal pianist-conductor Michel Brousseau return to Carnegie Hall as a duo to perform in a concert dedicated to Chopin's melodies - Piesni in Polish. These unique vocal vignettes express an intimate side of the composer already known and beloved for the quintessential romantic sensibility that permeates all his music.
Who better to interpret Chopin's emotive songs than a fellow Pole steeped in the same history and culture, and having the voice to do his work sweet justice? A multi-award winning soprano who's performed in opera's great houses in Europe and North America as well as at Carnegie Hall, Ms. Knapik has been described as "singing with pure tone and vital feeling (...) while exuding a charismatic star quality and radiant stage presence." (Lawrence A. Johnson, Miami Herald)
An inspired, energetic, and nationally acclaimed musician, pianist and conductor, Brousseau has also showcased his talents in the United States and overseas. Heralded as a wonderful communicator of the great classical works of our time, he is the perfect accompanist to Ms. Knapik on their new CD "Piesni" being released on the occasion of this concert. Special guest, New York-based pianist Cristina Altamura opens the afternoon's performance.
The concert takes place at Weill Recital Hall at Carnegie Hall located at 57th Street and Seventh Avenue with the entrance to the east of the main lobby. Tickets are $50 per person and can be purchased at carnegiehall.org/CarnegieCharge 212-247-7800.
