VITA 34 International AG expands to Slovakia
Leipzig, June 22, 2011 - The VITA 34 International AG (ISIN DE000A0BL849),
parent company of the oldest private umbilical cord blood bank in the
German-speaking countries, VITA 34 AG, successfully expands its foreign
business. The enterprise has just founded a wholly-owned subsidiary in
Slovakia named VITA 34 Slovakia. The Slovakian subsidiary assumes the
entire sales and marketing operations, the umbilical cord blood will be
stored in Leipzig.
In Slovakia, the cord blood of about three percent of the approximately
57,000 births every year is stored. Even though the storage rate is higher
than in Germany, the competitive environment in Slovakia is considerably
less pronounced - so far, there has been only one provider of storage of
autologous umbilical cord blood. VITA 34 accordingly acts on the assumption
that the Slovakian subsidiary will already positively contribute to the
operating income after a few quarters. The Slovakian market is entered
together with the partner, with whom VITA 34 has worked in Slovenia before.
The international sales of VITA 34 already contributes to the company's
growth. VITA 34 is represented through subsidiaries in Spain and Austria as
well as through partners in Italy, Slovenia, and in Switzerland.
Dr. med. Eberhard Lampeter, CEO of VITA 34: 'Thus, the development of
further European markets advances as planned. As early as next year, we
want to achieve a significant share in the Slovakian market potential and
operate profitably with VITA 34 Slovakia.'
