Theater Wit Celebrates 10 Years of Smart Art in Chicago With Three Compelling Plays

(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwired) -- 10/20/14 -- Celebrating its 10th anniversary this year, Theater Wit sees itself as a producer of humorous, challenging, and intelligent plays whose vibrant voice connects the participants to their larger surrounding.

The 10th season of Theater Wit featured three plays running concurrently. Tyrant is set in a utopian (or dystopian?) future that raises important questions about labor, wealth, power, and morality. It ran through June 29. Caged Dames is a musical parody take on film noir (with perhaps a touch of women's prison exploitation films). It ran through July 13. Mill Fire, presented by resident company Shattered Globe Theatre, focuses on a widow who bucks the conventional response to a mysterious industrial accident that claimed the life of her husband and several other mill workers. It ran through June 7. Patrons could purchase individual tickets or they can opt for a monthly membership that offers many benefits.

On June 21, Theater Wit hosted a celebration in honor of their 10th anniversary.

In addition to the primary shows, Theater Wit hosts the Belmont Burlesque Revue and Here, Chicago, an unscripted performance event focusing on embodied, old-timey theatrical storytelling.
