'Alter Energy Group joins European-Ukrainian Energy Agency'
Zurich Switzerland - July 7, 2011
ALTER ENERGY GROUP AG ('AEG')(the 'Company'), Frankfurt Stock Exchange
Ticker Symbol: 39f; WKN: A0MW07; ISIN: CH0032424969, announces that it has
formally accepted an invitation to become a member of the
European-Ukrainian Energy Agency (EUEA).
Edward J. Klaeger IV, CEO of AEG stated, 'After two years of discussions
with the Board and top level management at EUEA, and seeing their presence,
and potential impact on the market grow during this time, we determined
that becoming a member will help achieve the necessary goal of creating a
more robust and globally competitive Ukraine renewable energy market. EUEA
is a well established NGO that has achieved great results in bringing
together renewable energy and energy efficiency experts, in technology,
development and finance, from Europe to the Ukraine energy market. Joining
EUEA not only helps increase the competitive profile of renewable energy in
Ukraine but also helps increase AEG's profile as a leading project
developer as well. We expect to have a close working relationship with
EUEA, helping to develop and implement initiatives that will increase
transparency and sustainable growth with fair market practices necessary to
attract much needed foreign direct investment (FDI) to the sector.'
Elena Rybak, Director of EUEA states 'Ukraine's vast and undeveloped
renewable energy potential, as well as need for energy security, is high on
the agenda of EU-Ukraine political dialogue. Still, the strong presence of
international competence in the local market and active participation of
foreign investors in the challenging process of market development remain
crucial for maximizing this potential. In this regard we welcome AEG's
decision to join EUEA in its efforts and contributions to sustainable
development of Ukraine. Together with our members, we strive to keep
regular dialogue with governmental authorities on needed market mechanisms
to boost growth of the renewable energy sector and encourage energy
efficiency. AEG is well established with a long track record and successful
experience in Ukraine's renewable energy market making it a valuable
addition. We look forward to joint initiatives to overcome challenges and
further promote Ukraine as an attractive market for renewable energy
investments.'
