ERB Utilizes Mattersight Analytics for Metacognitive Information
(firmenpresse) - CHICAGO, IL -- (Marketwired) -- 10/27/14 -- On October 23rd, ERB (Educational Records Bureau) announced they will be using Mattersight Corporation's (NASDAQ: MATR) linguistic and behavioral algorithms to automatically analyze student essays for key metacognitive traits. Upon requests from ERB member schools for information beyond academic achievement and reasoning, ERB considered many options to obtain this type of information. Mattersight has millions of linguistic and behavioral algorithms that will be applied to digitized student essays to cull metacognitive factors to inform teaching and learning decisions related to: Motivation, Outlook, Confidence, Writer's Voice, Intensity, Engagement, and Enthusiasm.
ERB has worked with Mattersight over the past two years to develop the artificial intelligence and pilot test the concept with schools. This innovative service will be available no later than spring 2015. Schools will be able to submit digitized student essays for automatic analysis using Mattersight Corporation's linguistic and behavioral algorithms to get feedback on key metacognitive traits as reflected in each particular essay. Teachers and parents can use this data to better understand and respond to the student based on his/her writer's voice and to gain insight into the motivations of the student.
