Transmode joins the OpenDaylight Project
(Thomson Reuters ONE) -
Stockholm, Sweden - 6(th) November 2014 - Transmode, a global supplier of packet
optical networking solutions, today announced that it has joined the
OpenDaylight project, a collaborative open source project for the advancement of
Software-Defined Networking (SDN) and Network Functions Virtualization (NFV).
Transmode has joined as a silver member.
In joining the OpenDaylight Project, Transmode demonstrates its active support
for the project and the willingness to bring an open, common platform for SDN
and NFV to the industry as quickly as possible.
The OpenDaylight Project was founded April 2013 and is hosted by the Linux
Foundation. It was created as a community-led and industry-supported project to
advance SDN and NFV. The goal of the OpenDaylight Project is to offer a
functional SDN platform that gives users directly deployed SDN without the need
for other components. In addition to this, contributing companies can deliver
expertise and add-ons that will offer more value to OpenDaylight.
Neela Jacques, Executive Director of the OpenDaylight Project said, "We look
forward to Transmode sharing their expertise in the optical networking space to
broaden the range of perspectives within our community. More voices at the table
add to a robust debate and better code. It's exciting to see such a diversity of
new members who are committed to advancing open SDN and NFV."
Sten Nordell, Transmode's Chief Technology Officer, added, "We look forward to
contributing to the OpenDaylight project. We firmly believe that SDN and NFV
have the potential to make a significant change to the telecom industry over
time. SDN and NFV will help deliver a level of network flexibility and agility
which Transmode has always promoted. Industry wide collaboration on an open SDN
and NFV platforms will enable the industry to bring this flexibility to more
network providers and allow carriers to more quickly innovate and roll out new
services while preserving network resources.
