Social Media Pros and Cons for Non-profits
Most everyone agrees by now that social media can be a powerful medium for connecting people and communities, but what if you're goal is to motivate people to change a life, correct a social wrong or contribute in support of a cause? Yes, non-profits can use Twitter, Facebook, YouTube and so many other sites in powerful and valuable ways - but the challenges are different than others may face. Join us to discuss the pros, cons and special considerations of non-profit organizations using social media.

A fundraiser who is passionate about the potential of youth and the power of community, Bethany Wall sees both opportunities and challenges in the changing world of social media. From working to raise funds to support the kids and families involved with to volunteering as a board member of Junior Chamber International Calgary (JCI) to involvement with other community organizations, Bethany's seen many sides of the way social media tools can be used by non-profits, and is excited to share insights on "Social Media Pros and Cons for Nonprofits". The SMBYYC houses an open environment to share today's best and worst examples of social media, as practiced by individuals, industries and organizations in Calgary and around the world.
