Are Women Dying for a Healthy Self-Image

(firmenpresse) - NEW YORK, NY -- (Marketwire) -- 07/18/11 -- Thirty percent of women surveyed by the Success Foundation in partnership with the University of the West of England said that they would trade at least one year of their life in order to achieve their ideal body: 16% would trade 1 year; 10% would trade 2-5 years; 2% would trade 6-10 years; and, 1% would trade 21 years or more of their life. In addition, many women surveyed also said they would forfeit a promotion at work, part of their salary, time with loved ones and even their health.

"A startling 80% of women are not satisfied with their current appearance," say co-authors Dian Griesel, Ph.D. and Tom Griesel of the new book, "TurboCharged: Accelerate Your Fat Burning Metabolism, Get Lean Fast and Leave Diet and Exercise Rules in the Dust" (Business School of Happiness, 2011). "These are women with amazing levels of willpower. However, the misinformation within the diet world is baffling and adding pounds instead of self-esteem."

Most people want to be both lean and healthy. Yet, point out the Griesels, "virtually every diet is focused on 'weight-loss' vs. losing excess body fat -- which is the only thing we'd like to lose, not essential muscle, organs, water or bone tissue. All current advice today is making us weaker and fatter." They likely have a very good point. A poll by People magazine revealed that 93% said that they had made various and repeated attempts to lose weight.

How is one to make an educated and healthful decision that will result in a lean and healthy body? Get back to basics. Reduce refined carbohydrates and high sugar, processed foods from your diet. Then build health, energy and strength with a Nature-based foundation of whole fruits and vegetables along with fresh fish, meat, chicken, cheese and nuts.

Add a daily walk and other basic activities, and we would be well on the road to shaping up fast. The Griesels remind us: "Housecleaning, folding laundry, vacuuming, gardening, shoveling snow, stacking wood, walking on the golf course, dancing, swimming and skateboarding are all suitable activities that will burn calories, maintain and strengthen muscles and contribute to a healthy physical and mental self-image."
