Federal Government Renews Funding for Legal Information Development and Translation

Program will continue to develop French-language legal tools

Today, the Honourable Peter MacKay, Minister of Justice and Attorney General of Canada, announced renewed funding to the Centre de traduction et terminologie juridiques de Moncton under the Access to Justice in Both Official Languages Support Fund. He made the announcement at an event at the university accompanied by Robert Goguen, Parliamentary Secretary to the Minister of Justice and Attorney General, and MP for Moncton-Dieppe-Riverview.

The Centre will use the funding to continue to develop a series of legal and linguistic tools, including the production of lexicographical material and the standardization of French common law terminology, as well as the development of linguistic tools for legal professionals, so they can serve their clients more effectively in both official languages.
