Press release - Grontmij joint venture wins multiyear highways framework contract in UK

De Bilt, 18 November 2014 - Grontmij, a listed consulting & engineering company
with a strong European presence, in joint venture with Mott MacDonald, has been
appointed by England's Highways Agency to deliver engineering design services
under a new framework contract. The Mott MacDonald Grontmij joint venture (MMG
JV) will support the Agency to improve the national road network and thereby
stimulate economic growth. The contract has a potential value of up to ? 638
million over four years, with a possible two-year extension, across 10 framework
consultants.
The Highways Agency operates, maintains and improves the 6,900 km long strategic
road network in England, carrying a third of all traffic and two-thirds of all
heavy goods traffic. To stimulate economic growth, relieve congestion and
improve safety, the Agency is now implementing a new strategic investment
programme as well as plans for smaller works on the road network.
In the new Collaborative Delivery Framework (CDF), the Highways Agency intends
to establish closer working ties with its supply chain partners. Through
collaboration and knowledge sharing, the Agency and its partners will be able to
create efficiencies, deliver cost savings and reduce resources. The Agency's new
? 6.4 billion framework will start in late 2014.
The Mott MacDonald Grontmij joint venture will provide professional engineering
services related to projects across England, including bypass schemes, pinch
point schemes and smart motorways.
