Big Rock unveils its first release under new Brewmaster's Series
(firmenpresse) - CALGARY, ALBERTA -- (Marketwire) -- 07/18/11 -- Big Rock Brewery Inc. (TSX: BR) has announced that for a limited time you will be able to get your hands on the first brew to be officially released under Big Rock's Brewmaster's Series, Magpie Rye Ale. Some devoted Big Rock fans may remember this brew from the mid 90's when it was first released to the public in 1994. The beer was eventually taken out of the regular line-up to make way for other offerings, but over the years, Magpie has received the single most requests for re-introduction.
"Magpie is very unique ale," said Big Rock's Brewmaster Paul Gautreau. "It's full of rich flavour but it's very light in body and it won't over power your palette. When I was coming up with various recipes to experiment with in the Brewmaster's Series, I thought why not bring back an old favourite now that I have the capability to make it even better."
Die-hard Magpie fans may notice some subtle differences to this ale that they didn't experience the first time around. Using the "la-beer-atory", Big Rock's small pilot brewery that is housed inside the main brewery, Paul was able to alter the original recipe, reformulating and ultimately improving it for its most recent release.
The Brewmaster's Series is an on-going program that will release small batches of innovative brews through the pilot brewery on a seasonal basis. Magpie will be available in the marketplace for most of the summer, or until it's all swallowed up, with Big Rock's next release, Scottish Style Heavy Ale, making its way to the marketplace in October.
