Shelter Animals Paw-Craft Original "PupCatSo" Paintings
The Dearborn Animal Shelter's Adoptable Animals Create One-of-a-Kind Art
(firmenpresse) - DEARBORN, MI -- (Marketwire) -- 07/18/11 -- Dogs and cats in the are known for being cuddly, ready for a loving home, adoptable, playful, great new best friends, but now they are also building a reputation as artists to add to their resumes. Under the guidance of Shelter management, these furried artisans are creating original paintings that are available for sale to help raise funds for the animals in the care of the organization.
On Tuesday, July 26th from 5pm-8pm, in a special evening at the , these original "" paintings will be on display and available for purchase in the Dearborn Animal Shelter's booth. Elaine Greene, Executive Director, Friends For the Dearborn Animal Shelter, came up with the idea and created the first series of paintings for last year's fundraiser event. According to Greene, "We did these as a whim originally, to see if anyone would find them interesting, but now, they are so popular that we are getting requests for them; people are excited to have artwork that the animals created. In some cases, we are even making them to order in certain colors by request."
Using toxin free children's finger-paints, the furried artists dip their paws and tails in colors and let their creative fancy flow onto canvas. Greene and other team members help guide the animals onto the canvasses and gently wash the water soluble paints from their paws when they are finished. The artwork has two primary styles, impressionist and abstract. Each completed canvas is framed and ready for display in a home or office.
