Government of Canada Marks International Day of Persons with Disabilities by Encouraging Canadians to Take Advantage of Available Benefits

The Honourable Kerry-Lynne D. Findlay, P.C., Q.C., M.P., Minister of National Revenue, today marked the International Day of Persons with Disabilities by encouraging Canadians to take advantage of the many credits and benefits now available to persons with disabilities and their caregivers, and to take part in the Government's current online consultations on the Disability Tax Credit (DTC).
The CRA is conducting consultations with Canadians with disabilities, their caregivers, associations for persons with disabilities, promoters, tax professionals, qualified practitioners, and members from the general public on how the CRA can simplify and clarify the DTC application process. The feedback will help the CRA improve the DTC process and draft regulations to implement the Disability Tax Credit Promoters Restrictions Act (DTCPRA). The Act limits fees that can be charged by third parties to help complete a disability tax credit request, so that more money remains in the hands of persons with disabilities and their caregivers. Online consultations remain open to the public until December 15, at .
