(firmenpresse) - TORONTO, ONTARIO -- (Marketwire) -- 07/19/11 -- The Canadian Youth Business Foundation (CYBF) is thrilled to announce that Axel Arvizu and Juan Roman, founders of Canada's first tortilla production business La Tortilleria, have been selected as finalists for the Entrepreneur of the Year competition from Youth Business International (YBI). This international competition celebrates the world's best young entrepreneurs.

"Axel and Juan represent entrepreneurship at its best," said Vivian Prokop, chief executive officer of The Canadian Youth Business Foundation. "Since inception in 2008, La Tortilleria has achieved exceptional growth and has become an integral part of the many communities it serves. As newcomers to Canada, Axel and Juan are an inspiration to others and show the positive impact that outstanding young people can have on job creation as well as economic, community and cultural development."

Axel and Juan set up their tortilla business in Toronto, Ontario after emigrating from Mexico. Currently operating four restaurants and a centralized distribution centre, La Tortilleria employs 35 people. The founders also started a charity called Crea Mexico helping Mexican immigrants integrate into their new Canadian communities.

These young entrepreneurs and the other two finalists (entrepreneurs from India and Israel) are invited to London, England in November where a panel of business experts will select the overall winner. The winner will receive US$5,000 from YBI, one of His Royal Highness The Prince of Wales' charities.
