The sixth International Drug-Drug Interaction (DDI) Workshop at Marbach Castle, Germany will take place in May 2015
Gelnhausen, Germany, December 19, 2014: The faculty of the International DDI Workshop presents the programme of the DDI 2015 – 6th International Workshop on
Regulatory Requirements and Current Scientific Aspects on the Preclinical and Clinical Investigation of Drug-Drug Interactions, which will take place from May 3rd to 5th 2015 at Marbach Castle, Germany.
(firmenpresse) - The overall objective of the Drug-Drug Interaction Workshop series at Marbach Castle is to improve and disseminate the scientific knowledge about drug-drug interactions (incl. food-drug and herb-drug
interactions), to foster their proper preclinical and clinical investigation and communication, thereby
improving the safe use of drugs in the light of ageing populations and increasing polypharmaco-
therapy.
The DDI Workshop series started in May/June 2010 as an initiative of a group of international scientists and experts in the field from academia and industry. The first event was triggered by the notion that the area of drug-drug interactions is getting increasingly important and complex in view of continuously emerging new therapies, complex treatment algorithms for many widespread disease states and ageing populations in industrialized countries.
The organizers of the DDI Workshop are highly pleased to see that the DDI Workshop is now widely recognized and well established. On behalf of the faculty Dr. Robert Hermann said: “There is an unchanged need for scientific meetings, which offer presentation and discussion of new findings, techniques and guidelines in the area of drug-drug interactions. Attendees of former workshops appreciated in particular the excellent scientific quality of presentations, the relevance, topicality and comprehensiveness of the programme, and the opportunity to meet with other experts once a year. Therefore we decided to continue this scientific series beyond the 5th anniversary.”
This year the 6th International Drug-Drug Interaction Workshop at Marbach Castle will take place from May 3rd to 5th 2015. As in the previous years, the topics of the 6th International DDI Workshop will be covered by distinguished international scientists and experts from academia, pharmaceutical companies, contract research organizations, consultancies as well as government and regulatory agencies.
The 13 speakers of the 2015 event will come from 7 different countries (Canada, Germany, Great Britain, Japan, Sweden, Switzerland and USA), thereof 7 from Europe and 6 from overseas. The scientific sessions will cover clinical and regulatory aspects of drug-drug interactions, determination of intracellular drug-concentrations and DDIs influencing drug safety issues.
The faculty decided to continue with a poster session, which was first introduced in 2014, including oral presentations of selected posters. The poster session will comprise topics related to all aspect of non-clinical and clinical DDI investigations including IVIVE, modeling approaches, regulatory, pharmaco-epidemiological as well as labelling aspects of DDIs. Poster presenters need to submit an abstract (limited to 250 words) to karen.grave-hermann(at)cr-appliance.de. The deadline for abstract submission is on April 3rd 2015.
The DDI Workshop offers a unique opportunity for scientific exchange and networking across company and organizational boarders, and to learn about the current state-of-the-art in the investigation and clinical management of DDIs. Based on the detailed feedback received from the expert audience on additional areas of interest requiring future consideration, the structure and content of the DDI Workshop 2015 were designed. The programme of the DDI Workshop 2015 is now available on the website of cr.appliance.
