As automatic as it gets: Filltech develops and produces an intelligent filling system for CO2 fire extinguisher cylinders
Efficient, highly automated, dependable and reliable. Meeting the requirements of gas filling systems requires significant experience and expertise. A novel filling system for CO2 fire extinguisher cylinders shows the extent to which processes can now be automated. Filltech has realised a pioneering solution, from the initial concept to the turnkey end product and operation at the client’s site, as well as remote maintenance.
(firmenpresse) - What is especially remarkable is that the filling system automatically handles all steps involved in filling fire extinguisher cylinders. This covers everything from controlled turning of valves and labelling of cylinders, filling, and the first fully automatic check for leaks. One core element of the system is the integrated data entry and logging that ensures operators enjoy the highest levels of security and transparency.
All stations in the filling system are controlled and supplied with data via a central server component. All data is made available for the purposes of analysis and evaluation. In addition, constant remote maintenance identifies unusual operating situations early on, allowing for timely interventions long before any potential disruption even occurs.
Of course, the filling station is also fully automated. Conveyor systems deliver a constant stream of cylinders. The system transports cylinders to the filling station, automatically moves them into the correct position, scans the previously affixed ID label and adjusts the cylinders for filling. Another special feature is the explosion-proof casing installed in the filling station itself. A camera built into the casing allows for remote visual monitoring of the filling process.
Once filling is complete, the cylinders move to the next station to be tested. The system automatically checks the gross and net weight and tests for leaks. This is another innovation that has never before been realised in such a way. Cylinders are guaranteed to be trackable through to packing and labelling – absolute transparency in every process step.
This new filling system incorporates all of Filltech’s competencies, which have been combined in this way for the first time to produce a fully automated system. The system prototype is already being used successfully, which means that the technology is now available to other users to meet their specific requirements.
