Soventix sells Spanish solar carport to Vela Energy
(PresseBox) - Soventix GmbH based in Wesel (Germany) closed the sale of a solar carport installation located at Warner Brothers Movie Park near Madrid in December 2014. The plant with a nominal size of 2.3 MWp was erected in 2012 and finally acquired by Vela Energy.
More than 2 years after finalizing the installation of a solar carport on parts of the parking areas at Warner Brothers Movie Park close to Madrid, Soventix GmbH managed to sell the project entity to a local equity fund despite the ongoing crisis in the Spanish economy and the solar industry specifically. The sales price was at the upper end of Soventix own expectations.
The solar carport consists of 10,260 modules and produces around 3.2 million kilowatt hours of solar energy per year, representing the energy demand of approximately 1,200 households and carbon savings of 1,700 tons per year. As a positive side-effect to the clean energy production the Movie Park offers shaded parking for its customers on an area of 4.5 hectares.
Soventix' responsibility included all aspects of the project realization including the development and planning, the construction as well as its operation and maintenance. The work load was relatively high due to the carport structure; however, after all the project provides a secondary advantage for the landlords customers and shows that the realization of projects in Spain is still possible despite the changed and deteriorated circumstances.
Thorsten Preugschas, managing director of Soventix GmbH, emphasizes: "The project was a great challenge for us, given the technical, administrative and permitting hurdles to manage during a difficult period for the whole European solar industry. Retrospective changes in feed-in tariffs made it almost impossible to sell or finance any kind of plant in Spain for a long time. However, our persistence paid off in the end so that we are very proud about this success."
